SAFCO

Stockport Armed Forces Community Organisation (SAFCO), was formed in June 2023.

SAFCO is the umbrella organisation representing all the clubs, societies, associations and cadet units that make up the armed forces community across Stockport. The last census demonstrates that there are almost 8,000 veterans living in the Stockport Metropolitan Borough area.

SAFCO also includes all the charities supporting the community, such Help for Heroes, Royal British Legion, Walking with the Wounded, Mode Rehabilitation, plus public sector organisation such as GMP, BTP, GMFRS and NWAS. Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/groups/2674311969374887

Socials/Meetings

Weekly: Thursday – “NAAFI Break” at Stockport County, in the Pareto Lounge on Hardcastle Road, Edgeley. 10am until noon. For tea, coffee or Bovril and biscuits for a relaxed chat with like-minded veterans.

Weekly: Friday – “The Veterans Morning @ The Produce Hall” in Stockport Marketplace – hosted by The Veterans Food Company and Stockport Council. 10am until noon. £3 for a bacon and egg or sausage and egg barm, unlimited tea and coffee by donation.

Monthly: First Saturday each month – “Stockport Armed Forces Breakfast Club” at The Micker Brook, Councillor Lane, Cheadle. 0930-noon for an all you can eat breakfast and  unlimited tea or coffee for about £8. Monthly: Third Saturday each month – “Hazel Grove Armed Forces & Emergency Services Breakfast Club” at The Bulls Head pub, London Road, Hazel Grove. 10am until noon.
